Family problems persist without support.
Did you know that about 80% of families are considered dysfunctional?
In the early 2000s, as a teen, I acted out, ran off, got into trouble, and hung out with the wrong crowd. My parents were often out of patience, checked out, fighting, or uncertain about what to do. We all felt disconnected, frustrated, and hurt. I knew in my heart that it didn’t have to be that way, but no one seemed to know how to fix it.
We had no idea we could have made our lives and relationships so much better if we had reached out for support. The reality is without support, it may never get better. Things could even get worse.
Life is already hard enough as it is. We don’t need to make it harder on our family. We always have the choice to make things better.
So, here’s the good news.
Family therapy is all about treating the whole system. It helps families eliminate pain, dysfunction, miscommunication, and disharmony.
Suppose there is a conflict or unresolved issue. In that case, family therapy can help treat everyone involved so that everyone is on the same page and working together in harmony again. If past hurts and resentments aren’t fully repaired and swept under the rug, we stumble as we go through life.
Working with a family therapist can also help the family members look at the situation from multiple perspectives to understand it completely.
When we try to communicate, others don’t quite understand what is underneath our words.
Family therapy requires work to improve.
Through family therapy, you can learn to translate the communication between family members so that everyone can understand the other’s experience.
Family members will learn how to repair so they can heal and move forward. Sometimes this will require compromise and meeting in the middle, so everyone is happy.
Your family will learn conflict resolution skills so you can quickly process things and minimize emotional damage.
As you work together to heal, you will deepen bonds so you can become closer than ever.
Family therapy is a journey to learn how to forgive the past and move toward doing our part to create a better future. I want to paint you a picture of your life now and your life after working with me:
