Individual Therapy for Men

2202174809Men often have excuses for not seeking therapy.

After working with many men over the years, I often hear these three statements.

“I don’t think my problems are that big.”

“I have never really talked about my problems, so I don’t even know how to start.”

“I don’t want to share my emotions because I don’t want to be weak.”

Let’s Pause Right There.

I get the mentality, but that is a conditioned response that minimizes our needs. That response could have come from society or childhood, but it keeps many men from getting support, so they continue to feel like crap instead.

Over time those problems compound and get worse year after year.

In counseling, I will gently challenge you to examine the validity of those beliefs that keep you feeling small and insignificant. I’ll help you rewrite those beliefs so you can know what you want and get what you want.

Change starts with deciding to seek help and not go it alone.

2198447643 1Therapy can help address a host of problems.

We can focus on whatever is coming up for you. But in general, I can help men improve their lives in several ways.

If you have marriage relationship problems, therapy can help improve your communication skills and become more aware of your partner’s needs.

Sometimes, a man may feel unsuccessful, need help with self-discovery, feel there is more to life, or want to consider a career change. Therapy can help you look objectively at yourself, identify your strengths, develop a new mindset, or weigh your career options. You also can learn to put yourself first for a change.

Other issues that men experience may involve drinking or smoking more than they should, dealing with aging parents, wanting to change their bodies, or experiencing burnout. Individual therapy can help you develop strategies for coping with these life issues, among countless other issues.

Start improving your life.

Men, stop making excuses and struggling alone. Unresolved problems can get worse over time.

Therapy offers you a safe and confidential way to receive help for many men’s problems.
